The Washington University Medical Center
The Washington University Medical Center is a corporate entity comprised of the Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital, and the Central Institute for the Deaf. The University hospitals comprise an 1,800-bed complex of interconnected buildings with modern inpatient facilities and outpatient clinics. WUMC has the teaching responsibility for over 750 medical and graduate students, interns, residents, and post-doctoral fellows and trainees.

The teaching hospitals utilized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology are Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Missouri Baptist Hospital.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital
The post-graduate training program in obstetrics and gynecology is based at WUMC and sponsored by Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Barnes-Jewish Hospital represents a recent consolidation of the two adult hospitals at WUMC. This new entity has greatly expanded our potential for education. Barnes-Jewish Hospital is located on the Washington University Medical Center campus, is connected by an enclosed pedestrian bridge, and provides 139 beds for obstetric and gynecologic patients. The Department has office space in both hospitals and in an adjacent university building, which was the original St. Louis Maternity Hospital.

Other Hospitals
Missouri Baptist Hospital is located eight miles west of the campus. This hospital's private gynecology services afford excellent experience in benign gynecologic surgery and high-risk obstetrics services in a private practice setting during the second and third year of the program.
