Washington University offers the only program in St. Louis dedicated to meeting the special needs of pediatric and adolescent gynecology patients. As such, the Washington University Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology has become a major referral center within the Midwest.
Physicians provide a comprehensive program for evaluation, specialized treatment, and follow-up care for the unique medical and surgical gynecologic problems of the infant, child, young adolescents and teen.
While the division is focused on preventing unwanted teen pregnancies (through abstinence and contraception counseling), it also recognizes the special needs of pregnant teens. The Teen Pregnancy Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital provides obstetrical services, health education and counseling to pregnant adolescents up to the age of 17.
