Dr. Mutch returned to Washington University following his fellowship at Duke and has been on the faculty since this time. He was promoted to Full Professor in 1999 and subsequently was named the Ira and Judith Gall Professor of gynecologic oncology. He is board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and has served as a Board examiner since 1993, a subspecialty Board examiner since 1996, and is on the Editorial Board for Gyn Oncology. Dr. Mutch is Principal Investigator for the GOG at Washington University. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the GOG.  Dr. Mutch is co principal investigator on two separate NIH-funded grants with Dr. Paul Goodfellow. Dr. Mutch has been author or co-author on over 150 articles that have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, and is a reviewer for such journals as Gynecologic Oncology, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cancer, and Annals of Internal Medicine. He is on the editorial Board of Gynecologic Oncology and Journal of the Society of Gynecologic Investigation.
