"This is such a highly skilled practice, I can't see any improvements needed. I have been a healthcare professional for 10 years and I know this practice is top notch."

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Consultants (MFMC) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine provide consultative and complete obstetrical services to women whose pregnancies are complicated for a variety of different reasons. Traditionally these pregnancies have been described as “high risk”.

The physicians who comprise the MFMC include four full-time faculty who are board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and have also completed fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine and are either board certified or board qualified in this medical subspecialty. The practice also contains highly skilled nurse specialists who assist in providing prenatal care.

The physicians and nurses specialize in the care of pregnancies complicated by many different medical problems such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease and sickle cell anemia. They specialize in the care of multiple gestation pregnancies such as twins and those described as higher order multiple gestations (triplets and more). The MFMC provides complete comprehensive prenatal care in addition to one-time and serial consultative services to referring Obstetricians seeking advice and guidance on management issues. Overall the MFM Consultants manage the prenatal care and delivery of approximately 400 high-risk pregnancies each year.

The MFMC has three locations to serve the St. Louis metropolitan area.
