Dr. Scott Biest returned to Washington University after 18 years of private practice in the St. Louis metropolitan area. He is an assistant professor in obstetrics and gynecology and Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic surgery. Dr. Biest continues to see routine gynecology patients and his area of clinical interest is performing surgery on patients in a minimally invasive manner (laparoscopic), avoiding the traditional large open incisions. This allows shorter hospital stays, less pain and quicker recovery and return to work. Indications for these surgeries commonly include heavy menstrual bleeding disorders, uterine fibroids, pelvic pain and endometriosis. Over the last few years he has trained many physicians in the community as well as nationally and internationally utilizing the most advanced instrumentation and techniques in laparoscopic surgery.
